Wigs make our hair look thicker and let us create any look we want. But there is a problem that most of us face, even after using wigs, you don’t feel happy with the results because of the wig’s excess shine that gives you a doll-like look rather than making your hair look natural, mostly this problem occurs with synthetic wigs which are made by products like plastic and acrylic, but don’t worry there are some ways which you can use for getting a perfect looking wig look which will easily blend with your appearance. so, let’s discuss some tips on how to make a wig less shiny.

Mainly there are two options available either you can go for a real hair wig which is very expensive or a synthetic wig which is an affordable option and lets you create any look you want but the problem is its excess shine, which does not give a natural hair look.

How do you make a synthetic wig less shiny?

Here are some ways you can use to remove shine from synthetic wigs:

1. Washing the wig:

Washing the wig is one of the easiest solutions to make your wig more natural-looking.
It’s very natural that a new wig has excessive shine so, rather than doing anything else first wash it. After the wash wig loses its shine and gives a natural look.

You have to be a bit careful while doing that as the hair strands are very sensitive and they might break during wash. Try products that are specially made for wigs as they are very effective in protecting and cleaning the wig hair and never put too much force while washing. After the wash, you can see the change in shine.

2. Dry shampoo:

This shampoo is a great product for removing grease from your hair but you can also it to reduce the shine of the wig. It is a great product that instantly shows the results and removes the shine.

Apply a generous amount of dry shampoo on your wig and wait until the shine is gone after that if you feel the need, apply small amounts of dry shampoo at a time until you are satisfied with your look.

But be careful while using it as it can discolor your wig or leave white powder. To protect your wig make sure to use a high-quality dry shampoo. For black or dark brown color wigs use a shampoo specifically made for dark-colored hair and for blond or white-colored wigs you can use any shampoo, these wigs can easily cover up the white powder.

3. Baby powder:

If your wig is grey, blonde, or light brown then you can powder it to make it look less shiny. This Baby powder or talc powder are normal items that you can easily find in any household. It is a very logical product and a good alternative to dry shampoo if you want to remove excess shine from the wig.
